Our History

Over forty years ago, Rosemary Burke and Charlie Campise had a dream to help the foster children of Texas. Burke Center for Youth was opened in 1973 as a residential treatment center at Pathfinder’s Ranch in Driftwood, Texas. Rosemary’s dream grew twenty years later, and Burke Center expanded to include the Child Placement and Adoption Agency with 5 locations around the state. In 2016, Burke Center Transition Homes became the third branch in our organization.

Our Mission

Burke Center for Youth strives to promote healing and inspire hope for children in crisis. Whether through treatment, placement, or a little extra stability, our ultimate goal is to help children rebuild their lives in a manner that will break the cycle of abuse and give them the tools necessary to flourish.

Our Vision

All children deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to flourish. Burke Center for Youth envisions a support system for any child in foster care, and we are working on building that system a little at a time. We currently offer:

-foster and adoption services to any child in Texas, birth to 17

-residential therapeutic assistance to adolescent boys 11-17 who have endured abuse

-transitional living for young men age 18-20 who have aged out of foster care and require a little help taking the next steps to college or job training
