Direct Care Staff – Days

Job Description

Direct Care Staff is responsible for supporting, supervising, and assisting our youth in care. Direct Care Staff should promote healthy habits, display maturity and responsibility, and be a role model to our youth. Staff create opportunities within the program for youth to experience the core value of positive self-esteem through being prosocial, helping with learning life skills and chores, and facilitating positive conversations and dialogue. Direct Care Staff will work closely with case managers, teachers, and other administrative team members to ensure youth’s permanency plan is progressing. The successful candidate will have previous experience with working with at risk youth and/or display high levels of patience. This is a Full Time position.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate with co-workers, medical personnel, and other persons necessary to care for the child’s needs.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions, resolve conflicts, and listen.
  • Ability to deal calmly in crisis situations. Patience is key!
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be compassionate and firm and always maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve goals.
  • Success at managing a wide array of tasks and projects and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Commitment to the Mission of the Burke Center for Youth.

Other Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation, valid Texas driver’s license, and valid vehicle insurance.
  • Position requires driving in personal vehicle and/or agency vehicle to include freeways and highways for CPS sibling visits, offsite medical appointments, and events as needed.
  • Must be able to work on a flexible schedule as needed to meet work, program, and project deadlines.
  • Pass TB test and submit to random drug testing.
  • Must be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Pass both federal and state background screenings.
  • Provide references.
